2025-2026 PITTSBURGH AVIATOR TRYOUT INFORMATION

The Aviators are looking forward to the tryouts for the 2025-2026 season. Spaces are limited, so make sure you register as soon as possible. Tryouts will be held April 2025. The days and times for each age group and coaches will be announced soon. Please check back to this website and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for any tryout updates.

THEN IT INCREASES TO $175.



Pre Tryout Skate Information:

• When: Dates and times will be coming soon.
• Cost: Free if you are registered for tryouts.
• Register: A sign up form will be made available first to current Aviator families, then to the tryout registration list, and then open to the public. It will be first come first serve and spots will be limited.

Tryout Cost Details

• Location: Roy McKnight Hockey Center (423 Fox Chapel Rd, Pittsburgh 15238)
• EARLY BIRD TRYOUT FEE OF $125 UNTIL FEBRUARY 23, 2025! THEN IT INCREASES TO $175.
• The tryout fee is charged to complete your registration. The tryout fee is non-refundable even if you do not show to tryouts, or do not complete tryouts. If your player accepts a roster position on a 2025-26 Pittsburgh Aviators team the tryout fee will be credited toward their season tuition.
• A $500 commitment fee will be required to commit your player to a roster position on a 2025-26 Pittsburgh Aviators team. All financial transactions will be done electronically through Crossbar. By completing this registration you agree to allow the Pittsburgh Aviators to charge your payment method on file for the commitment fee. If a roster position is offered you will have 24 hours to decline the position. After 24 hours your player will be considered to have accepted the roster position and your account will be charged for the commitment fee. Once charged, commitment fees are non-refundable if your player later declines a roster position. More information on accepting or declining roster positions will be included with any offer of a roster position.
• Crossbar charges a 2% transaction fee on all Debit/Credit Card transactions. If you establish payment using a bank account there are no transaction fees and you can save money on your tryout and commitment fees. You must set up a payment method and keep it current for the duration of tryouts. If you do not have an active payment method on file your player will not be offered a roster position.

Tryout Day Information

• Check In - Please check in at the front desk every day for your jersey and locker room assignment
• USA Hockey Number for 2025–26 is required at tryout check in. Please bring a paper copy of your child’s USA Hockey Number registration. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE ICE WITHOUT IT. 
• 25-26 USA Ice Hockey numbers are not available until April 1st, 2024.

• Tryout Apparel Notes - Jerseys will be provided. No names and no emblems of PAHL, PIHL, or AAA teams are permitted at tryouts. Please do not wear identifying pants, shells, or socks for tryouts. You will not be permitted on the ice if you wear any of the above items. NECKGUARDS AND MOUTHGUARDS ARE REQUIRED. YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ON THE ICE WITHOUT THEM.
• TRYOUTS WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC! All parents will be asked to leave the Roy McKnight Hockey Center prior to the start of each tryout session and will not be allowed to re-enter until the tryout has ended.
• A Pittsburgh Aviators Board member will be available before and after all tryouts for any questions you may have about the tryout process, team selections, or anything else you want to know about the Pittsburgh Aviators Hockey Association.



• NOTE: SHADY SIDE ACADEMY IS A TOBACCO, DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE CAMPUS AND ALL TAILGATING IS PROHIBITED. Please make plans accordingly to occupy your time during tryouts. You may remain in your car if you would like but please respect the campus rules.
